Dr Marian de Ruiter has joined the Shrewsbury Court Independent Hospital Senior Management Team as Consulting Advisor. Marian joins the team with a wealth of experience and will be focusing on fostering collaborative working with external stakeholders, business development opportunities, as well as supporting the team to continue to drive good practice and patient-centred care.
Marian worked as an Addiction Psychiatrist for an NHS Mental Health Trust for 25 years, setting up a large community service and an inpatient rehabilitation service. During this time, combined with a non-statutory addiction service, Marian also successfully bid for two other addiction services in Hounslow and Brighton
In the latter years, Marian has worked as an Associate Medical Director at Surrey & Borders Partnership Trust covering Learning Disability, along with specialist services including Forensic, CAMHS, Older Adults and Working-Age Adult services. Large restructures of those services occurred during her time as Associate Medical Director. After a brief ‘retired’ spell volunteering in a Syrian refugee camp in Greece, Marian returned to the NHS Trust during the Covid-19 outbreak.
She is married to an anaesthetist, has four children, and adores gardening and the sound of music.
